Canyon Lake

Canyon Lake is located about a half hour's drive from Wimberley on the edge of the beautiful Texas Hill Country.

Eight public parks are operated by the US Army Corps of Engineers for all to enjoy the scenery and the cool clear waters of Canyon Lake.

Day Use at Canyon Lake

Many people living in South Central Texas have discovered that a day's outing to nearby Canyon Lake can be a great and simple getaway. Our day use parks offer picnic sites, swimming beaches, boat ramps, scenic trails and other amenities.

Comal Park - Facilities at Comal Park were upgraded in 1996 and the park is a great family-oriented place to swim, picnic or boat. Facilities include a swim beach, playground, two boat ramps, and 65 mostly shaded picnic sites with cookers.

Canyon Beach - This day use area has a large swim beach but only 12 picnic sites. A large camping area is located within one mile of the beach area.

Overlook Park - First time visitors should drive to Overlook Park to experience the scenic view of the lake. Located adjacent to Canyon Dam, visitors can walk along the dam's crest trail to view both the lake and the Guadalupe River valley. The Canyon Lake Office is also located in Overlook Park and is open Mon-Fri from 8am to 4:30pm.

Guadalupe Park - Scenic trails follow the Guadalupe River path for a short distance in Guadalupe Park which is a small area located just below Canyon Dam. Free public fishing access in the river is available including an accessible trail to a fishing platform along the riverbank.
